I prefer to call cats, 'ngiau' and dogs, 'puppy'. semua kucing pun saya panggil ngiau, semua anjing hatta kecil, atau besar, puppy juga. kucing yang ada nama pun, ngiau juga sa panggil. I basically live in house that do not favor having pets around. no ngiau, no puppy. mum would chase out ngiau that sleeps below the car. and puppy were only available in the workers house in dad's kabun. so, basically no pets.
I came to have soft spot for ngiau in 2007, matriculation. my roommate, were a super duper cat lover. she has millions of cats at home. her blankie has cats pattern on it, and she would brought in and fed stray ngiau in the hostels. at times, few ngiau will sleep with her and from there, i learn to like cats and follow suit of having cats in our room. one other roommate were also very much a cat lover. both of them sleeps with cats on their bed, and I sleep with a teddy bear on my own bed. since only three of us in the room, cats being brought in after class is a usual scene and cleaning poops were a very much happy task to three of us. so, yeah, basically I fall in love with cats because of my roommate.
come to this week. with no one at home, and the eerie silence in my house, I went to tend our small garden at the back of the house. halfway of the process, I heard a scratching sound and a soft ngiau sound. I said to myself, maybe it was the neighbor's stray cat which she fed everyday. my neighbor placed few food bowls around her house and stray cats would come and eat. even the birds were given bread to eat. the scratching sound stops, and I heard a growling sound behind me. a female cat is growling and literally looking very much wanted to eat the fluffy-fat me. that is when I realized that the were a kitten somewhere. in the evening, I told dad and mum. both of them only said, 'manada, tiada pun sa dingar'.
the next morning, I am smiling proudly as I won a grand prize. the gut feeling of the kitten is somewhere around the house were proven when I found a kitten inside an abandoned tajau after much membungkar setiap ceruk dan tempat tersembunyi. this tajau were once used to make tapai, but now, it serves as the holder for the mop-broom-squidgy stuffs. I make an effort to place a box beside the tajau, hoping the mother of the kitten would use the box to nurse the kitten and to have a more spacious room for the kitten to roam around. and inside the tajau was very dark and well, sempit. the mother of the kitten did transferred the kitten just for a few hours to the box and later brought away the kitten. suits well, because my parents were very much not favoring there is cats behind our house. dia dapat rasa juga mum dad tidak suka ngiau. T.T

beside the box is a tajau. there is where the kitten lived of a few days
before being transferred to the box. mum now placed a cover
on top of the tajau to avoid such ngiau brought in her kitten again.

I suspected the mother of the kitten brought the kitten into the tajau because of the two days continuous rain and shallow flood in our neighborhood, well, it is enclosed and water proof kan. I was very much happy that I have few days to look after a kitten, and almost every hour I went to check on the kitten. siok ba dapat pigang ngiau~! :)
the fluffy gumuk Gubbeh. and I named the kitten Gubbeh while
the mother have the traditional name, ngiau.
